Four Types of Combat Knives

Asides from guns, knives are one tool military personnel often have on them. Many refer to them as combat knives, and the military uses them for close-range fighting. These knives are highly functional and versatile; therefore, they can perform more tasks than fighting alone.

Here are some types of combat knives. 

  1. Push Dagger

A push dagger is also known as a T-handled knife, push knife, or fist knife. It is short and has a “T” shape. The user is supposed to hold the knife by the hand between the index and middle finger or middle and ring finger to keep the blade pointing out.

The push dagger is unique as its design is specifically for self-defense—stabbing someone from behind. It is lightweight, has an aluminum handle, and has a grip suitable for bare-hand holding. The knife can come with a serrated or straight edge, and its length is often about 3 inches. Asides from fighting and self-defense, you can also use this knife for hunting and cutting. 

  1. Boot Knife

A boot knife is a fixed-blade fighting knife. It is a suitable knife for self-defense and combat situations. It has a sharp blade and comes with a sheath that you conceal in your boot. The idea behind boot knives is that it is an easily accessible tool that you can reach out for in times of danger. A boot knife is typically smaller than many traditional fighting and tactical knives, its blades are usually about three to four inches, and the knife has a total length of eight inches.

  1. Bowie Knife

Bowie knives are one of the best combat knives. They are also called fixation bowie knives and come with several features that make them distinct and suitable for combat situations. They have blade grooves and a wraparound handle. They also come with spanner nuts, thumb notches, and more features that make them a lethal weapon.

Bowie knives are agile, durable, and have excellent proportion and balance. In general, bowie knives are suitable for fighting, survival, and camping. They also make great tactical knives. Their heavy blade gives them good chopping, stabbing, and cutting abilities. The knife’s total length is about 12 to 18 inches

  1. Tanto Knife

This knife has an incredibly sharp point with high durability and functionality, making it an ideal combat knife. Its design is for easy penetration to tear through anything. The blade is also easy to sharpen. It also has pointed blade tips, making it suitable for fighting and stabbing. Generally, if you need a knife for combat, piercing, penetration, and easy cutting of items, tanto knives are an excellent option. They are great combat knives.

The blades are about 5-12 inches long, and the knife weighs about 1 pound.
